My family has had long and wonderful ties to China.  I was conceived in a Japanese Prisoner of War Camp in Shandong, but born in England, and came to China as baby.  The first language I spoke was Chinese.

My father came to China in 1932, my mother in 1938 and my elder brother was born in China. I was conceived in a Japanese Prisoner of War camp in Weifeng, Shandong Province so I tell everyone I was “made in China”..

It has always been my dream to come to China and work and give something back to the Chinese for all the things and ways they have helped my family.

I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelors of Arts, and also received my Bachelors of Education degree from the same university.  I received my Masters degree in Curriculum and Administration from Gonzaga University in Washington.

My teaching career began in 1968,at a Junior High School and in 1982 I became the Vice Principal of a the Lloydminster  Comprehensive High School in Lloydminster, Alberta Canada.  In 1989 I became the Principal of Foothills Comprehensive High School and The Alberta High School of Fine Arts in Okotoks, Alberta - just out of Calgary until my retirement in 2000.

I first came to China in 2000 and taught ESL in Daqing. The following year I set up and became the Principal of a Sino-Canadian School in Shandong.  In 2003 I came here to Sino-Canada High School as the founding Principal. I have seen the school grow from  5 foreign teachers to 47 and it keeps on growing!

I love China, and especially have a real love for the Chinese people. I am so grateful that I have this opportunity to work in China, and to do what I love the most - working with young people and hopefully contributing to their future.
